Camotes Island Tour

Good morning Camotes!

IMG_2786

Our call time is 6 am since we asked Kuya Rolly, the habal-habal driver to pick us up at 7 am for the island tour (500php plus 100php for gasoline). But we kept on hitting the snooze button so we ended up starting the island tour at around 8 am.

We had a light breakfast at Pito’s Sutukil before heading to our first itinerary.

Santiago Bay Garden and Resort by day.

1. MANGODLONG ROCK RESORT.

IMG_2805

Literally a rock resort, Mangodlong is a sister company of Santiago Bay and Garden Resort. It is located just a few kilometers from Santiago, facing the Camotes Sea. The resort is gifted with a white sand beach topped with several rock formations. These rock formations are ornamented with tropical huts giving the resort a classy but laid- back feel.

2. LAKE DANAO NATURAL PARK.

Of the several tourist attractions in Camotes, Lake Danao is the most intriguing for me maybe because lakes are not a common attraction in our country.

Entrance Fee:

Adult: 15php

Child: 5php

The park also offers activities such as kayaking and horseback riding.

Kayaking: 50 php/person for 1 hour

I was enjoying the activity not until I realized that we were already very far and looking down made me think of gators and lochness monsters.haha

Horseback Riding: 50 php/ person

3. TIMUBO CAVE:

After that struggle with riding a horse for the first time, it is now time to visit Timubo Cave. I was all too excited since it will be my first time to see a cave.

Entrance Fee: 15php

IMG_2912

Contrary to my expectation, the cave is located underground. You have to walk down a flight of paved stairs to get inside the cave. We hesitated for a moment until some group of tourists started their way down. We just followed.haha

Good thing the trail is well-lighted.

A small inlet serves as entrance to the lagoon.

IMG_2922

At the end of the trail, we were aghast. Tis’ another magnificent wok of nature.

IMG_2925

A small lagoon awaited us. We were just too excited to jump and soak ourselves in the cold springwater.

After invigorating our bodies with the cool waters of the cave, time to head to our last destination, Buho Rock Resort.

4. BUHO ROCK RESORT

Entrance Fee: 20php

IMG_2956

Another resort on a cliff, a must do at Buho Rock Resort is to jump off the 40-foot cliff or an easier 10 foot cliff. Sadly, I can’t do any of this since I still need to have that swimming lessons. So I left the jumping to my other half.

His 10-foot dive.

It was almost one o’clock when we finished the island tour. Kuya Rolly would have taken us to their Baywalk but we opted to just pass by it. We were starving and itching hit the beach.

CRABS FOR LUNCH.

What can I say? Pito’s Sutukil is the place to be.lol

IMG_2978

I can’t help but appreciate the hospitality of Pito’s Stukil. The crabs were not on their menu list but since I asked for one the night before, they obliged. They sell each crab for only 80php. Their “kinilaw” is also a must try.

HITTING THE BEACH.

IMG_2972

Our time was limited, it was already two in the afternoon and we have to catch the 5:30 trip to Danao. We seized that opportunity to bum for two hours at the beach. The sun was scorchingly hot hence it was a blessing that we only have two hours to sunbathe.haha

We made arrangements with Kuya Rolly to take us to Consuelo Port.
